Our Big Announcement: Rustic Trunk Leaps into Full Time!

4.10 Big Announcement Rustic Trunk Is Full Time

Here it is – - our BIG announcement!

4.10 Full Time

That’s right! Starting in just over a month, Rustic Trunk will be my FULL TIME business!

WHA???!!!

I hear ya. Here’s the scoop!

Just over one year ago, Rustic Trunk began as a hobby – something fun to do on the side of my other two full-time jobs, Office Manager and Communications Coordinator at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church (in Moorhead, MN) and being Mommy to my two awesome little boys, Miles (4) and Simon (18 months).

I know… crazy, right?

I’ve kinda felt like this chick most of the time….

But the thing was – I had this creative energy inside me that was dying to bust out and take on a life of it’s own! And boy did it ever! Rustic Trunk became its very own life force and before I could stop my little rust-loving self, I had completely fallen in love with the whole thing!

I cannot possibly say THANK YOU enough to the amazing people in my support system who helped me get over the complete terror of starting my own business – if you’ve ever quit a perfectly good, stable job and leapt into the unknown of starting your own business, you know about this. This is real, it’s-gonna-eat-me-alive – terror!

And let me just say - I NEVER would have gotten to this point in a million, trillion years without the incredible support from my hubby, Scott! I’m not kidding here folks, this man sweeps me off my feet – he has loaded trailers and trailers full of furniture, and then unloaded and loaded them all over again – he helps me bounce around the “big ideas” – he’s my sounding board, my therapist, my marketing and branding consultant, my financial advisor and – - he SEWS!! I am not even joking. Amazing, right??

So this all boils down to the the ONE person I get to be from here on out…

THANK YOU, for being along for the ride!

Next up are TWO MORE huge milestones for Rustic Trunk:

1. Our brand new website will be launching NEXT WEEK (horray!!)

AND

2. we’ll soon be introducing you to our AWESOME INTERNS!!

I can’t even handle all the great things going on around here – - I think I need to go take a nap, but I’m WAY too excited! …. I’ve been using a whole lot of capital letters so I must be pretty excited ;)

Carrie Sue

We are so excited to announce that internships are now available for incredibly awesome, creative, highly organized individuals who are DIY-ers and have an interest in event planning, design, or starting a small business. Creative and passionate people please apply! The first year for Rustic Trunk was so exciting – we really hit the ground running last spring and I am thrilled beyond words to have grown so much that we are looking for some extra help!

This is a part-time, as-needed, internship, mostly weekends during the spring, summer, and fall.

Job Description:

  • Must be willing and able to move furniture (this is what we do!)
  • Weekends are a must. That’s when most of our events take place!
  • In addition to rustic and vintage rentals, Rustic Trunk offers styling and design. Interns would be responsible for helping prep inventory for events, assisting in the style and design on event days as well as helping pack up and load out after events.
  • Weekday responsibilities would include running errands to get things together for upcoming events and any errands relating to the upkeep of our inventory pieces. Sometimes it’s a trip to Hobby Lobby or Menard’s, other times it’s to and estate sale or my favorite thrift store to get some vintage goodies. You MUST own a car and have a valid driver’s license.
  • I am more than willing to work around your current schedule! If you have another job or are in school, this is a perfect opportunity for you.
  • I am also very willing to work with you, if you are in school, to help you fulfill requirements for college credit!

Qualifications:

  • You are sweet, kind, and seriously drama free (my husband is in theatre – we have enough drama already!)
  • You are responsible and excited about joining a small, but growing, Moorhead business.
  • You are ORGANIZED. Your closet is color coordinated, and your spice rack is alphabetized (or something along these lines)
  • You are handy. I spend a lot of time fixing broken inventory, painting, sanding, gluing, etc. It would be a huge help if you were good at these things too!
  • Interest in graphic design and/or photo editing is a huge plus!
  • You must be absolutely, head over heels in love with rust and chippy paint. Non-negotiable.
  • Qualified applicants please send cover letter and resume to carrie@rustictrunk.com with the subject line AWESOME INTERN. No phone calls please.

If you meet the qualifications, you will be contacted to set up an initial phone interview.

XO,
Carrie Sue
